About

Eamonn Payton

I am a husband, an engineer, and a West Virginian. I grew up in the middle of rural West Virginia a little off the beaten path. When I wasn't at school, I would preoccupy myself by tinkering with broken toys and household appliances. I would take them apart, put them back together, and even try to "fix" them (much to the dismay of the circuit breaker in our basement). At the age of eleven I started flying model planes. This instilled a passion for aviation that became the foundation of who I am today. Fast forward to 2023, I now have two bachelor's of science degrees from West Virginia University in mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering. Throughout my tenure at West Virginia's flagship university, I have honed rapid prototyping and design skills while working on many globally competitive competition teams and research teams. I have learned to put safety first, how to manage teams and sub teams, how to work with people who I don't agree with, and how to embrace type two fun.  I recently started attending West Virginia University again as a graduate student where I'm working on designing low-cost testing platforms and flight-ready hardware for small satellites.
